The baseball gods seem to have a bone to pick with the Minnesota Twins so far this season.
First, the news ten days ago that star closer Joe Nathan will be lost to the team for the entire season, after tearing a ligament in his right elbow. Ouch.
Then comes the news this week that Minnesota’s new home park – Target Field – has signed an exclusive beverage deal with Pepsi for the next five years. That hurts. It’s one thing to cheap out on a retractable roof for your new stadium in a town where the average nightly temperature in April is somewhere in the mid-30’s. It’s another thing altogether not to pony up for Coca-Cola products.
Adding injury to insult, Twins OF Denard Span lined a foul ball off his own mother in the stands during the first inning of Wednesday’s game vs. New York. I mean, what are the odds? Thankfully, mom was OK.
As for the Twins, I’m not so sure.
Holy crud, what are the odds of this happening? I think we have a new product for Vegas to peddle.
