During the Vancouver 2010 Olympics back in February, British media outlets were highly outspoken against the Winter Games, dubbing them the ‘Worst Ever’ only a few days in following the unfortunate death of luger Nodar Kumaritashvili and a highly-publicized set malfunction during the opening ceremonies.
A vibrant spirit and 14 gold medals later for the host nation and it’s fair to say those Brits may have jumped the gun just a tad.

But when it comes to “Worst Ever’ from an Olympic standpoint, the British should look no further than Wednesday’s unveiling of the 2012 London Summer Games mascots – Mandeville and Wenlock.
London 2012 Mascots Drawing Criticism From Around The World
These two one-eyed creatures are drawing heavy criticism from around the world, with local design experts even referring to them as ‘patronizing rubbish’.
Granted, mascots are by-and-large designed for kids. But after getting a look at these two alien life forms, it’s abundantly clear that London 2012 is guilty of ’selling-out’ in their attempt to create authentic characters. I suppose now the organizers can only hope the same holds true for Mandeville and Wenlock merchandise at the Games themselves next summer.





I just have to say… WTF? Not just questionning, but I find those mascots downright disturbing. Can’t wait until we Canadians hold up the mirror to those critical British journalists. Two years to go….
